Biography
Victor Mensah is the Military & Veterans Editor at SB Loan, where he leads content for servicemembers, veterans, and military families and signs off on Military Lending Act (MLA) compliance across the site. He commissioned through the Naval ROTC unit at Texas A&M University and served as a United States Marine Corps logistics officer from 2008 to 2014.
Following his active-duty service as a captain ending in 2014, Victor achieved the Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC®) credential with a military specialty and accepted a personal-financial-management advisor position with Marine Corps Community Services at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. For over four years he conducted financial check-ups, emergency-assistance loan evaluations, and pre-deployment finance sessions for enlisted Marines and their families.
Between 2020 and 2024 Victor served as a financial-readiness expert for a nationwide veterans-services nonprofit, providing on-base and remote guidance to active-duty, Guard, and Reserve personnel and their families. He delivered hundreds of MLA briefings — covering protected-borrower verifications, the 36% Military APR limit, plus the rent-a-bank and tribal-lender schemes that frequently target military families.
Victor became part of SB Loan in 2025. His editorial principle is that any content reaching a service member or veteran is correct, truly helpful, and aware of the distinct financial stresses in military life — ensuring no lender presented to a protected borrower breaks the MLA cap.
